Grill cooked bbq asparagus can be prepared in next to no time. If you’re quick about it, you can whip out a batch in less than 10 minutes.
Barbecued asparagus is a great side dish, and goes with about anything. Place a pile of spears next to your grilled chicken, or some smoked brisket. Grilled asparagus is a fun appetizer, too.
Barbecue Asparagus
To make this a 10 minute recipe, light that gas grill NOW and get that sucker preheated!
- 1 pound asparagus spears
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder
To prepare the asparagus, first break off or cut off the tough base of the stalks. Rinse in cold water, dry, then coat with the vegetable oil.
Combine the lemon pepper and cayenne pepper and with it, season the asparagus on all sides. Cook over direct medium heat for 5 to 8 minutes. When done, the asparagus will be just tender and showing some carmelization. Serve your barbecued asparagus immediately, while piping hot.

You can also make your bbq asparagus indoors. All you need is a George Foreman countertop grill, an open electric grill, or even just a ribbed cast iron grill pan. The electric grills vary in temperature and power, so grilling time may be more or less than expected.
